Collection: Bahji Tea
A Journey Through the Teas of Taiwan
Each year I travel to Taiwan to source teas directly from mountain farms and traditional roasting houses. I spend time with growers, roasters, and puer tea collectors, tasting carefully and building relationships. From these visits, I bring back a small selection of teas chosen for their depth of flavor, clean energy, and lasting tea feel—teas shaped by healthy soils, high-elevation landscapes, and thoughtful, all-natural farming practices.
Our current selection includes:
-
Aged Puer – Aged in Hong Kong and then moved to Taiwan for the last 8 plus years of aging. These raw Puers are rich, deep, and grounding, with layers that unfold slowly over each infusion.
-
High Mountain Oolongs – Crisp and floral, or nutty and roasted these teas carrying the freshness and energy of misty mountains. These are the most sought after teas in Taiwan as the regions they are grow have very little space for a lot of tea gardens so supply is limited.
-
Dong Ding – Grow on Dong Ding Mountain in Nantou state these are some of the most highly praised traditional taiwanese teas. They are roasted to perfection, offering a smooth balance of warmth and sweetness with nice fruity/ nutty undertones. This is a great tea to age as they mature and become more nuanced as time goes by.
-
Tie Guanyin – Roasted with complex fruity or aromatic undertones, with a richness that lingers on the palate. We offer both high mountain Tie Guanyin from Taiwan that is a light roast with amazing aromatic undertones and a sweet soaring energy. Along with traditional Tie Guanyin from China that is heavily roasted and aged.
-
Jin Xuan (Milk Oolong) – Creamy and comforting, with its signature soft, milky finish. A beautiful everyday Oolong that almost everybody will like.
Available in very limited quantities, each tea reflects the landscapes of Taiwan, the hands of its artisans, and the devotion to craft that makes these leaves so exceptional.
