28-Year-Old Aged Yunnan Shou Pu’er

A beautifully aged shou Pu’er that has spent approximately 28 years resting and maturing in Taiwan. The tea brews into a vibrant deep red liquor with a grounding earthy aroma, smooth silky body, and gentle lingering sweetness.

Produced by the Yunnan Tea Branch of the China Native Produce and Livestock Import and Export Corporation, this is a wonderful example of an older Taiwanese-stored shou Pu’er that remains approachable enough for everyday drinking.

I discovered this tea at the Taipei Tea Expo through my friend Casey, whose family has owned a tea shop in Taipei since 1985 and has spent decades sourcing quality and rare teas from Yunnan and Taiwan.

I especially like this tea for its simplicity. It isn't trying to be an incredibly rare collector's Pu’er. It is simply a well-aged, smooth, enjoyable shou that offers an opportunity to experience nearly three decades of aging without the price tag that often comes with older Pu’er.
